Module 2: Managing and Troubleshooting Mail FlowIn this module, you will analyze the components of mail flow and learn how to manage it, a vital responsibility for every Exchange administrator. You will compare mail flow management across Exchange Online, Exchange Server, and Exchange Hybrid deployments. Moving from management to troubleshooting, you will address issues such as incorrectly routed emails within or outside your organization, or failures in establishing secure connections. You will discover the tools Microsoft offers to identify root causes and resolve mail flow issues. The focus then shifts to troubleshooting transport issues, including network problems, connector and agent errors, and architectural challenges, as well as troubleshooting in coexistence scenarios. Finally, you will learn how to utilize event, protocol, and tracking logs when service availability and message transport have been verified but issues persist, or when historical data about past issues is required.Lessons

  • Managing Mail Flow
  • Troubleshooting Mail Flow
  • Troubleshooting Transport Issues
  • Troubleshooting with Logs

Module 3: Managing Message HygieneIn this module, you will learn about Microsoft Exchange Online Protection (EOP) features and capabilities. You will also learn to plan messaging routing for this service, which delivers anti-malware and anti-spam policies to protect your organization from spam, malware, and messaging policy violations. You will review the anti-malware and anti-spam protection offered by Exchange Server and Online Protection, learning how to configure spam and malware filters, policies, and settings to safeguard your users. The module concludes by examining Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) and how it enhances EOP by filtering targeted attacks that might bypass initial defenses, including advanced threats like zero-day attacks in email attachments and Office documents, as well as time-of-click protection against malicious URLs. You will learn how Microsoft 365 ATP protects users through features such as Safe Attachments and Safe Links, and how it generates reports that provide administrators with insights into attacks targeting their tenants via email.Lessons

  • Planning for Message Hygiene
  • Managing Anti-Malware and Anti-Spam Policies
  • Managing Advanced Threat Protection

Module 4: Managing ComplianceThis module introduces the various compliance features in the Security & Compliance Center (SCC) that messaging administrators can use to meet legal and regulatory requirements. It supports compliance in Exchange by exploring features available in the Exchange Admin Center for Exchange Server and hybrid deployments. Given the complex retention requirements of modern messaging environments, this module focuses on archiving methods within Exchange to help you provide an efficient and compliant environment for your users. You will also examine how additional archive storage is provided, how messages are automatically processed and archived, and how audit logging in Exchange provides information about administrator, delegate, and user actions in mailboxes and the Exchange organization. Finally, since organizations must adhere to legal discovery requirements (related to policy, compliance, or litigation), you will explore how eDiscovery for Microsoft Exchange assists in conducting discovery searches for relevant content within mailboxes.Lessons

  • Messaging Compliance in the SCC
  • Messaging Compliance in Exchange
  • Managing Exchange Online Archiving and Auditing
  • Managing Content Search

Module 5: Managing Organizational SettingsThis module begins by examining how to manage authentication for messaging. It focuses on ensuring user accounts are secure and deploying multiple security features without introducing unnecessary complexity that could hinder productivity or create new security risks. You will then transition from messaging authentication to organizational settings, learning how to configure settings that apply to the entire organization or large user groups. Finally, you will examine how to configure organizational sharing.Lessons

  • Managing Authentication for Messaging
  • Configuring Organizational Settings
  • Configuring Organizational Sharing

Module 6: Managing Mobile DevicesIn this module, you will begin by examining Mobile Device Management in Microsoft 365, as well as how Exchange ActiveSync and mobile device mailbox policies support these efforts. You will then explore managing and troubleshooting mobile device access. The module further examines configuring access and infrastructure for mobile devices, understanding the implications of remote wipe, and learning about alternative mobile device management methods.Lessons

  • Mobile Device Mailbox Policies
  • Managing Mobile Device Access

Module 7: Managing Role-Based PermissionsThis module explores how messaging administrators manage role-based permissions, a critical task for any messaging professional. Since both Exchange Server and Exchange Online utilize the Role Based Access Control (RBAC) permission model, this module covers the fundamentals of RBAC management. It concludes by examining how a messaging administrator must plan and configure permissions carefully to avoid risking the environment or the entire Active Directory.Lessons

  • Managing Admin Roles
  • Managing User Roles
  • Exchange Setup - RBAC and AD Split Permission

Module 8: Managing Recipient Objects and ResourcesThis module covers common tasks performed by messaging administrators, such as creating and configuring email recipients, lists, and resources. It examines different types of Exchange Server recipients and how they differ. The module then focuses on tasks requiring the creation and management of Exchange recipients, including user mailboxes, resource mailboxes, shared mailboxes, mail contacts, and mail users. You will also learn to manage recipient permissions and create and manage groups.Lessons

  • Exchange Recipients
  • Creating and Managing Exchange Recipients
  • Managing Email Addresses, Lists, and Resources

Module 9: Managing Public FoldersIn this module, you will learn about public folders in Exchange, review planning considerations for deployment, and discuss alternatives. You will also learn how to implement and manage public folder mailboxes, public folders, and permissions, including creating and managing mail-enabled public folders. The module concludes with methods for monitoring and troubleshooting public folder-related issues.Lessons
